Get Healthier Before The Holidays DFW

Prepare for A Healthier Holiday By Getting Out Of The House

The six weeks of feasting, socializing and endless leftovers culminating in an off-tune rendition of “Auld Lang Syne” (collectively called “The Holidays”) is just a couple of weeks away. We will need to prepare ourselves. This month, D Magazine published some fun events in November to get us off the couch and in a healthier mindset before the parties begin.

12 Fit Things to Do in Dallas This November

You’ll need to prep for the influx of turkey.

As the weather gets colder and the leaves change color, life in November seems to dissolve into an array of candy corn, pumpkin pie, and turkey. Keep your head above the fray, whether you’re cycling your calories away, hitting downward dogs in the park, or running through downtown. Lace up your sneakers and get moving so that you can eat all the candy corn you want. Or rolls. Or sweet potato casserole. Pick your poison; we don’t judge here.

NOVEMBER 4

See Dallas Cycle

VITAL Fitness Studio, The Ride House, and lululemon have teamed up for See Dallas Cycle, an outdoor cycling class at The Eye across from The Joule. The 45-minute workout, which is $30, includes shoe rental, water, a swag bag, and samples from Holy Kombucha and I Am The Juice Place. Post-ride, you can head over to Americano or CBD Provisions for $10 off your bill. Reserve your bike here.

NOVEMBER 5

Dog Yoga

Bring your four-legged best friend to the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center on Nov. 20 for dog yoga. Perfect your downward dog, alongside your pup, from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Group Fitness Studio. Inspired by the book Doga: Yoga for Dogs and led by professional yoga instructor Debbi Levy, dog yoga is an opportunity for humans to interact with their canine companions while tapping into the animal’s natural yoga tendencies including the ability to “be in the moment” and, of course, inherent flexibility. Yoga mats and towels will be provided. Also, the SPCA will be on site from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. helping find forever homes for dogs in need.

With the weather staying nice and warm for the next few weeks, it’s a great time to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Doing fall projects and spending time decorating the house for Thanksgiving and Christmas is a great way to spend our weekends. Getting ready for the holidays means more than just raking the leaves, it also means we’ll be needing sweaters and the heater soon. Don’t forget to have the HVAC system tuned up and make sure the breakers can handle those outdoor lights.
