How To Keep Allergens Out Of Your Home

Allergy season isn’t going away anytime soon, so Neeha Curtis got with President of ,  Berkeys Air Conditioning, Plumbing, and Electrical, Jaime Wooldridge, to find out the best ways to keep your Dallas / Fort Worth area home’s air quality high and allergen free.

Jaime says our first line of defense are the mats we put outside our doors. They provide a great place to scrape of all those allergens, but if you also put a mat inside the door, it provides even greater protection. However, it’s almost impossible to keep all those little particles from getting inside, so the vacuum is another great allergy fighting tool.

Jamie suggest getting one with a HEPA air filter. So if you don’t have one, it may be time to upgrade, because HEPA filters can get particles as small as 0.3 microns.  Also, make sure the air coming from your vents is allergen free too. Jamie stresses how important it is to change out your air conditioner’s filter about once a month during prime cooling season, or anytime you notice them getting dirty.

Also, there are a couple things you need to hire a Dallas / Fort Worth professional for, in order to make your home allergen free. After years of use, your vents and ducts accumulate all kinds of hair, dust, and pollen. You will need a profession to clear them out and apply an anti-microbial treatment to get a deep clean. You can also get an air scrubber which will kill bacteria in your air system whenever you turn it on.
