Successful Facebook Contest by Berkeys Heating & Air Supports Supports Local Grapevine, TX Charity

Every year, the holidays set the stage for reflection and ultimately appreciation going out to those who make a difference in our community.

This holiday season, Berkeys Heating & Air created a great opportunity for their fans on Facebook to nominate a local charitable organization for recognition. The winner would receive a monetary donation for their contribution in the Dallas area.

The contest began on November 18th by asking the fans to tell Berkeys about their favorite charity and what that charity meant to them and the community. The winner with the most votes would win a $1,000 donation for Christmas.

The winner of the $1,000 grand prize was the First Methodist Church of Grapevine.

The First Methodist Church of Grapevine’s Weekend Food is a program organized through First Methodist Church Grapevine and administered through school counselors in Grapevine/Colleyville ISD. It is not part of the church’s general budget but is funded by extra contributions from the congregation and community members; fundraisers such as the church’s Iron Men Golf Tournament and the Annual Gala also donate a portion to this cause. The work is done by volunteers who pick up and deliver food while others bag the individual student portions given out as needed. $1.77 donated provides Weekend Food for one child for a week. 0% of donated funds go to administration as work is accomplished completely by volunteers! Currently they serve 13 schools in GCISD and about 900 students per week. This community project is now in its sixth year.

Both Weekend Food Founder, Debbie Price and Chairperson, Ann Rhodes  were present to receive  their check on site at Berkeys Heating & Air Conditioning’s office in South Lake, Texas. (See Photos). Also, Susan Green, who nominated First Methodist Church of Grapevine was there to receive a $100 gift card for her nomination.

Berkeys  appreciates all who participated in showing honor to these charities. Providing a platform to give homage to the many local organizations that make a difference in our community throughout the year was a privilege for our company.
